INTERSECT is a one-day conference taking place in Bristol on the 19th May 2012. It will feature speakers from several minority groups who are fighting for women's rights and give them a platform to present their organisations and aims and to inform attendees how they may get involved.
This conference was borne from the idea that many members of the groups invited to take part feel that they are not included or catered for within what may be termed 'mainstream' feminism, and the conference aims to make some way towards solving this problem. The conference will conclude with an open debate titled "How do we create a more inclusive feminism?".
INTERSECT will feature speakers from Trans Media Watch, Daughters of Eve and Women for Refugee Women as well as several others and be chaired by comedian Kate Smurthwaite.
